Egyptian international Mohamed Salah, winger for Liverpool, has been named the Premier League Player of the Season for the third time in his career, the Football Writers’ Association (FWA) announced on Friday.
By claiming the award, Salah equals the record of French legend Thierry Henry, having secured 90% of the votes cast by the association’s 900-plus members, marking the highest voting percentage this century.
The 32-year-old forward clinched the accolade by a significant margin, beating out top contenders including his Liverpool teammate Virgil van Dijk, Alexander Isak of Newcastle, and Declan Rice of Arsenal.
Salah’s triumph comes after leading Liverpool to the Premier League title this season with a series of outstanding performances, further solidifying his position as a strong contender for the FIFA Best Player Award.
The Egyptian star previously won the FWA Player of the Season award in 2018 and 2022, cementing his status as one of the Premier League’s all-time greats.
