U.S.-China Economic Talks Conclude in Geneva, New Round Scheduled for Tomorrow

The first high-level economic negotiations between Chinese and U.S. officials concluded on Saturday in Geneva. The negotiations aimed to contain the fallout from President Donald Trump’s trade war.

The talks featured U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Pient, U.S. Trade Representative Jamison Greer, and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng.

These discussions follow Trump’s willingness to de-escalate by proposing a reduction in tariffs on Chinese products from 145% to 80%.

Additionally, Beijing announced an 8.1% increase in exports for April, exceeding analysts’ expectations. A new round of talks is scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday.
