Hamas has announced that it will release the Israeli-American prisoner Aidan Alexander in the Gaza Strip, indicating that it has been in contact with the U.S. administration over the past few days.

In another context, a senior Palestinian official revealed that Hamas is engaged in talks with the U.S. administration aimed at reaching a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and allowing urgent humanitarian aid to enter the territory.

While the Israeli occupation confirmed its continued fighting in Gaza, Egypt and Qatar described Hamas’s agreement to release the American-Israeli hostage as an encouraging step towards resuming ceasefire negotiations.
