Mediterranean: Three People Killed During Migration Attempt from Libya to Italy

At least three people, including two children, were killed while attempting to cross the Mediterranean Sea from Libya to Italy, according to a German maritime rescue organization on Sunday.

A rubber boat was intercepted drifting south of the Italian island of Lampedusa on Saturday after being spotted by a surveillance aircraft from the European border agency, Frontex.

Since 2014, nearly 25,000 migrants have died or gone missing on this central Mediterranean route.
