U.S. President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that Qatar Airways has finalized a record-breaking agreement to purchase 160 Boeing aircraft in a landmark deal valued at over $200 billion. The signing ceremony took place in Doha alongside Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
“This is incredible—160 planes, worth over $200 billion. It’s a record,” Trump said following the signing. “It marks the largest aircraft order in Boeing’s history. A very big deal.”
The aircraft deal was part of a broader cooperation package signed between the United States and Qatar, which also included major defense agreements—among them, the procurement of MQ-9B unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The agreements were concluded after a two-hour meeting between President Trump and the Qatari Emir.
Trump’s visit to Qatar is the second stop on his Gulf tour, which began in Riyadh, where he made headlines by announcing the lifting of U.S. sanctions on Syria and held talks with Syrian President Ahmad Shar’a.
The Boeing deal underscores Qatar’s growing role as a major player in global aviation and highlights deepening strategic and economic ties between Washington and Doha.
