The U.S. Treasury Department announced on Thursday new sanctions against Lebanese Hezbollah, reflecting an escalation in the Trump administration’s policy towards financing networks linked to the organization.
The sanctions targeted two senior Hezbollah officials, along with two financial facilitators residing in Iran and Lebanon, accused of coordinating financial transfers for the group.
Deputy Treasury Secretary Michael Foltender stated that “today’s action underscores the extensive global reach of Hezbollah through its network of funders and terrorist supporters, particularly in Tehran.”
