European Countries Prepare to Recognize Palestine During International Conference in New York

Several European countries, led by France and Belgium, are preparing to recognize the State of Palestine during an international conference scheduled to take place in New York from June 17 to 20.

The conference will be co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia, which are working on implementing concrete measures to enable the establishment of a Palestinian state.

Fifteen countries will participate in formulating these measures, which will address issues related to the security of both the Israeli occupation and the Palestinians, economic feasibility, and the reconstruction of Gaza.

For its part, the Israeli occupation has warned that recognition by Paris and European countries of the State of Palestine will prompt it to take “unilateral” actions, according to a statement from its Foreign Minister, Gideon Sa’ar.
