European Union Approves Lifting Economic Sanctions on Syria in Move to Reset International Stance

The European Union has officially approved the lifting of all economic sanctions imposed on Syria, in a bid to support the country’s recovery following the ousting of former President Bashar al-Assad.

This decision coincides with similar moves from the United States and Japan.

Kaya Kalas, the EU’s foreign policy chief, stated that the foreign ministers aim to agree on lifting the sanctions before a joint meeting with defense ministers begins.
