Israeli occupation forces opened live fire on a diplomatic delegation on Wednesday at the entrance of Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank, as the group was visiting the area to assess the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
According to the official Palestinian news agency WAFA, Israeli soldiers stationed near the camp’s eastern gate fired heavily and directly at the delegation and a group of accompanying journalists, near a metal barrier erected by the military. No injuries were reported.
The delegation, which included ambassadors from several Arab and foreign countries, had earlier visited the Jenin Governorate’s headquarters, where they were briefed on the deteriorating conditions in the city and the camp due to repeated Israeli raids.
The incident marks a serious escalation and a violation of diplomatic norms, raising concerns over the safety of international personnel in Palestinian territories. It comes amid ongoing Israeli military operations that have devastated large parts of Jenin and its surroundings.
