Libya’s Al-Menfi Says Country Seeks to Resume Oil and Gas Projects with Russian Firms

Libya is aiming to revive contracts with Russian companies in the oil and gas sectors, President of the Presidential Council Mohamed Al-Menfi said on Wednesday, highlighting promising prospects for broader cooperation between the two countries.

In an interview with Russia’s TASS news agency, Al-Menfi emphasized that renewing collaboration with Moscow represents a significant step toward reactivating key energy projects that have been stalled since 2011 due to prolonged security instability in Libya.

“We view partnership with Russia as a vital opportunity to rebuild Libya’s oil infrastructure and boost production,” Al-Menfi stated, adding that the government welcomes the return of Russian firms as the security situation shows signs of improvement.
