Representatives from China, 53 African nations, and the African Union Commission gathered Wednesday in the city of Changsha to coordinate efforts on fully implementing the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
The ministerial meeting of FOCAC follow-up coordinators opened with the reading of congratulatory messages from Chinese President Xi Jinping and President Denis Sassou Nguesso of the Republic of Congo, the African co-chair of the forum.
In his message, President Xi emphasized the importance of solidarity and cooperation between China and Africa, announcing new measures to further expand openness and partnership. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said these proposals offer strategic direction for both sides to pursue modernization and build a high-quality China-Africa community with a shared future.
Wang noted that FOCAC has seen rapid growth since its establishment 25 years ago, propelling China-Africa relations into a new era. He highlighted significant progress in implementing the ten cooperation initiatives outlined during the Beijing Summit last September, aimed at supporting Africa’s modernization and development goals.
