European Union foreign ministers will discuss on Monday the establishment of a common position on how to deal with Syria regarding the transition after the fall of Bashar al-Assad, a French foreign ministry spokesman said.
Speaking at a regular press briefing on Thursday, Foreign Ministry spokesman Christophe Lemoine said it was premature at this stage to discuss lifting sanctions against the country.
Earlier on Thursday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with Jordan’s King Abdullah in the Red Sea city of Aqaba as he arrived in the region for talks on Syria following the ouster of Syrian regime leader Bashar al-Assad.
