Hamas Reaches Preliminary Agreement with U.S. Envoy on Permanent Ceasefire in Gaza

The Palestinian resistance group Hamas announced on Wednesday that it has reached a preliminary agreement with U.S. special envoy David Wichthoff on a general framework for a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

In an official statement carried by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Hamas said: “We are making significant efforts to end the war on Gaza, the latest of which resulted in an agreement with U.S. envoy Wichthoff on a general framework for a lasting ceasefire.”

The statement added that the agreement includes a full withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza and the uninterrupted flow of humanitarian aid into the territory.

It also outlines the formation of a professional committee that would assume administrative responsibilities for Gaza immediately following the announcement of the agreement.

This development comes amid ongoing regional and international efforts to bring an end to the months-long conflict, which has resulted in heavy civilian casualties and a deepening humanitarian crisis in the enclave.

There has been no official comment yet from the U.S. or Israeli authorities regarding the terms of the proposed agreement.
