A military source reported on Friday that intense clashes erupted between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the West Libya Market area, west of Omdurman, amid an ongoing military standoff in the capital region.
According to the source, heavy weapons were used by both sides, as the Sudanese army launched an operation aimed at advancing toward the Qandahar Market, considered a key RSF stronghold in western Omdurman.
The area has seen mounting tension in recent weeks, with repeated attempts by Sudanese forces to regain control over strategic positions, while intermittent fighting continues across Khartoum and other parts of the country.
These developments unfold amid a worsening humanitarian crisis, with mass displacement of civilians and significant damage to infrastructure and essential services in the conflict-affected zones.
