Hundreds of protesters took to the streets of Madrid on Saturday to protest against the increase in military spending and the government’s rearmament plans, in response to a call from leftist parties.

Enrique Santiago, spokesperson for the United Left party, stated that his party’s continuation in the governing coalition has become nearly impossible under the current trends.

He urged Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez to maintain a firm stance against NATO pressures.
