Libya’s Presidential Council Warns Against Unauthorized Military Movements Amid Security Alert in Tripoli

Libya’s Presidential Council on Friday issued a stern warning against any unauthorized military or security movements, amid heightened security alert in Tripoli and reports of armed groups advancing from Misrata toward the capital.

In an official statement, the council emphasized that “any field movements without coordination constitute a direct threat to civil peace and national security,” urging all military and security bodies to strictly adhere to official instructions from the top command.

Tripoli has witnessed increased security deployment since early morning, with roads blocked and a growing sense of tension across the city, fueled by reports of military convoys en route from Misrata — raising fears of potential clashes in the already fragile political landscape.

The council called on all parties to exercise restraint and prioritize dialogue, stressing that maintaining stability is a national imperative that must not be jeopardized.
