An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale struck the central Turkish province of Konya on Thursday, according to a statement by the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).
AFAD reported that the quake occurred at 3:46 p.m. local time (12:46 GMT) at a depth of 18.73 kilometers, with its epicenter located in the district of Kulu, within Konya Province.
The tremor was felt in surrounding provinces, including the capital Ankara. As of now, there have been no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage.
The earthquake is among the strongest to hit the region in recent months, and Turkish authorities are continuing to monitor the situation and assess any potential impacts.
