Over 1.3 Million Pilgrims Arrive in Saudi Arabia Ahead of Hajj, Most via Airports

More than 1.3 million pilgrims from outside Saudi Arabia have arrived in the Kingdom ahead of the 2025 Hajj season, according to a statement released Friday by the General Directorate of Passports.

As of the end of Thursday, 1,260,874 pilgrims had entered through international airports, representing the vast majority of arrivals. The directorate noted that streamlined entry procedures and expanded facilities at airports have played a key role in efficiently handling the influx of pilgrims.

An additional 64,883 pilgrims entered through land border crossings, while 5,088 arrived via seaports, highlighting the operational readiness and integration of the Kingdom’s various points of entry.

The surge in arrivals comes as preparations intensify for the official start of Hajj on June 4. Saudi authorities have mobilized extensive logistical and security efforts to ensure the safety and smooth movement of all pilgrims performing the annual rites.
