Pope Francis arrived in the Southeast Asian nation of Timor-Leste on Monday for a three-day visit from Papua New Guinea.
Pope Francis, 87, is visiting East Timor as part of a four-nation tour of Southeast Asia and Oceania, his longest overseas trip to date.
The visit includes an open-air Mass that is expected to attract more than half of the country’s 1.3 million people, most of whom are Christian Catholics.
The Pope will make his first speech in East Timor to the country’s political authorities later today.
