At least four people were killed in Kyiv overnight after Russia launched a large-scale missile and drone assault on the Ukrainian capital, Ukrainian officials said Friday. Powerful explosions echoed across the city during the attack.
Local media reported significant damage to railway infrastructure, which also disrupted subway operations. Ukraine’s state railway company, Ukrzaliznytsia, confirmed delays on several routes due to damaged tracks in the Kyiv region.
In the western city of Ternopil, industrial facilities and key infrastructure were also targeted, resulting in partial power outages, according to the city’s mayor.
The strikes are part of an ongoing Russian campaign targeting Ukrainian infrastructure, especially in major urban centers. Emergency crews are currently assessing damage and working to restore essential services.
