Sudan: Cholera Outbreak Spreads in Khartoum with Over 1,000 Cases Daily

Health authorities have reported that the number of cholera cases in Khartoum has exceeded 1,000 daily.

With basic services deteriorating and more than 80% of hospitals closed, the cholera pandemic is rapidly escalating, turning the capital into a major center of the outbreak.

In light of the destruction caused by war, the collapse of infrastructure, and the scarcity of clean water, doctors are warning of a swift spread of the disease among displaced populations and densely populated areas.

Nicolas Jan, head of the Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) mission in Sudan, stated that “the current situation of the cholera outbreak is very dire, especially in Khartoum.”
