According to the Kuwaiti press agency “KUNA,” the “Amiri decree was issued appointing Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah as the Prime Minister, instructing him to nominate members of the new cabinet.” Sheikh Mohammed, who is 68 years old, is the fourth child of Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, the twelfth Emir of Kuwait. The diplomat, who received his Ph.D. from Harvard University in economics and Middle Eastern studies, states in his biography that he was Kuwait’s ambassador to the US for ten years beginning in 1993. He left his post as Minister of Foreign Affairs in 2011 after being nominated for the role in 2003.
