The United Nations announced that floods in South Sudan have affected approximately 1.4 million people and forced more than 379,000 to flee their homes.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) warned, in a statement issued on Friday evening, of the risk of malaria outbreaks in flood-affected areas, according to foreign media reports.
The statement also mentioned that more than 397,000 people have been displaced in 22 counties and the Abyei area, noting an increase in malaria cases in several states, which is putting pressure on the healthcare system and complicating the situation in the affected areas.
