U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday urged his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, to expedite the signing of a rare metals agreement with the United States, stressing that the finalization of the deal has already been delayed by more than three weeks.
In a post on his “Truth Social” platform, Trump stated, “Ukraine has yet to sign the final documents for the extremely important rare metals agreement with the United States,” expressing hope that the signing would occur “immediately.”
Trump also noted that the peace process between Russia and Ukraine is “progressing smoothly,” reaffirming his commitment to continuing efforts to resolve the conflict.
On April 18, Ukrainian Economy Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Ukraine and the United States regarding cooperation in rare metals.
Ukraine is known to possess significant reserves of rare metals, including titanium and zirconium, which are essential for modern technological industries.
