The United Nations on Tuesday renewed its call for the Houthi group to immediately and unconditionally release its detained staff in Yemen, marking one year since their abduction by the militia.
In a statement issued by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, he expressed deep concern over the continued detention of UN personnel, saying: “The ongoing arbitrary detention of our colleagues is a grave injustice against those who have spared no effort in delivering life-saving assistance and supporting the people of Yemen.”
Guterres urged the Houthis to uphold their obligations under international law and stressed the importance of ensuring the safety and security of humanitarian and development workers.
