Washington to Host U.S.–Turkey Working Group Meeting on Syria Tuesday

The U.S. capital, Washington, will host a meeting of the U.S.–Turkey Working Group on Syria on Tuesday, as part of ongoing bilateral efforts to coordinate policy and enhance cooperation regarding developments in Syria.

According to sources in the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting will be co-chaired by Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Nuh Yılmaz and his U.S. counterpart Christopher Landau, and will involve participation from relevant institutions on both sides.

The agenda is expected to focus on each country’s strategic priorities in Syria, as well as exploring avenues for joint efforts aimed at promoting security and stability in the war-torn country.

Discussions are also expected to include the mechanisms for easing U.S. sanctions on Syria, along with a timeline and concrete steps that could be implemented in the coming period, amid ongoing political and humanitarian developments in the region.
