World Food Program: The Threat of Famine Approaches the Sudanese Capital as War Continues

The United Nations World Food Program has warned that the threat of famine is nearing the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, as the civil war enters its third year.

Laurent Bukera, the program’s representative in Sudan, stated that the town of Jebel Awliya, south of Khartoum, is experiencing “severe” levels of hunger and despair, pointing to a rapid deterioration in the humanitarian situation.
