Reigning champions England reached the final of the UEFA Women’s Euro after edging past Italy 2–1 in extra time on Tuesday in Geneva.
After a tense 90 minutes ended in a 1–1 draw, the Lionesses found a late winner in the additional period, securing their third major tournament final in as many years.
England will face the winner of Wednesday’s semifinal between Spain and Germany in Sunday’s championship match, as they aim to defend their European crown and claim back-to-back titles.
The result underscores England’s consistency at the top level of women’s football and sets up a highly anticipated finale in this year’s tournament.
