Erdogan Meets Trump at White House for First Time Since 2019 to Discuss Trade and Defense

U.S. President Donald Trump met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the White House on Thursday, their first encounter since 2019, with talks expected to focus on trade and defense deals according to Germany’s DPA news agency .

Talks are expected to focus on boosting bilateral trade and potential defense deals, including Turkey’s possible acquisition of American fighter jets.

During Trump’s first term in office, Washington excluded Turkey from the F-35 fighter jet program after Ankara purchased the Russian-made S-400 missile defense system.
