EU Launches New Digital System to Monitor Entry of Travelers

The European Union began implementing a new digital system on Sunday to register the entry and exit of non-EU travelers, in a move aimed at strengthening border security and curbing irregular migration.

The system uses fingerprint and facial recognition data, gradually replacing traditional passport stamps, and is expected to be fully operational by April 2026.

EU Commissioner for Home Affairs Magnus Brunner described the system as “the backbone of Europe’s new migration framework.”
