The European Union on Thursday called on Israel to halt its strikes on Lebanon, warning that such actions threaten the ceasefire between the United States and Iran brokered by Pakistan.

EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said that “Israeli actions are putting severe pressure on the ceasefire between the United States and Iran,” emphasizing that any ceasefire agreement should also include Lebanon.

The 27-member bloc also rejected the idea of imposing transit fees through the Strait of Hormuz, stressing the importance of maintaining freedom of navigation in the vital waterway.

The EU’s position comes amid international efforts to preserve de-escalation and prevent a wider regional conflict.
