The Syrian Ministry of Interior reported on Wednesday that an explosion occurred in the Mezze 86 area of Damascus, caused by an improvised explosive device targeting a member of the internal security forces. No casualties were reported.
According to the ministry’s official Facebook page, Colonel Osama Mohammad Khair Atka, head of internal security in Damascus, stated that “security units responded immediately to the explosion, securing and cordoning off the area completely.”
The incident comes amid rising security tensions in certain parts of Syria. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
