Fenerbahçe, the Turkish football club, announced Friday the dismissal of Portuguese coach José Mourinho from his position with the team, according to an official club statement.

The statement read: “We have parted ways with José Mourinho, head coach of our team since the 2024-2025 season.”

The decision comes after Fenerbahçe failed to qualify for the group stage of the UEFA Champions League, following a 0-0 draw at home in Istanbul and a 1-0 defeat against Portugal’s Benfica in Lisbon during the qualifying rounds.
