Finland announced on Friday that it has joined the countries endorsing the “New York Declaration”, which seeks to recognize the State of Palestine during the upcoming UN General Assembly meetings in New York this month.
The Finnish Foreign Ministry said the move supports international efforts toward a peaceful resolution of the Palestinian issue through the implementation of the two-state solution.
Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen had stated on August 10 that “the process led by France and Saudi Arabia is the most significant international effort in years to create conditions for a two-state solution,” according to Reuters.
