Five killed, 35 injured in mosque blast in northeast Nigeria

Nigerian police said at least five people were killed and 35 others injured when a person detonated an improvised explosive device inside a mosque in Maiduguri, the capital of Nigeria’s northeastern Borno state, during evening prayers on Wednesday.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum condemned the incident, describing it as “totally condemnable, barbaric and inhuman,” and urged people to exercise caution in places of worship and public areas during the festive season.
