Seoul Central Court on Friday sentenced former South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol to five years in prison for declaring martial law in December 2024.
This ruling is the first of eight cases filed against Yoon, including charges of “leading a rebellion” connected to the martial law declaration, along with other offenses.
According to South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency, the court handed down the five-year sentence for obstructing authorities’ attempts to arrest him, as part of ongoing investigations against the former president.
