Britain’s Lando Norris, driving for McLaren, has clinched his maiden Formula 1 world championship after finishing third in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix — just enough to secure the title by a margin of two points.
His teammate Oscar Piastri took first place, followed by Max Verstappen, who lost the championship after four consecutive years of dominance.
Observers described the season finale as “Hitchcockian” due to the tight competition until the very last lap.
The victory marks the greatest achievement in Norris’s career since joining Formula 1 in 2019.
