Violent clashes erupted in India’s Ladakh region between security forces and hundreds of protesters, leaving four people dead and dozens injured.
Authorities imposed a ban on gatherings, deployed paramilitary forces, and shut down businesses and institutions.
The protests broke out after security forces tried to block demonstrators from marching toward Leh town, escalating into violence that included arson of vehicles and government buildings.
Police confirmed using live ammunition and tear gas “in self-defense.”
