French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot announced the summoning of the U.S. ambassador to Paris, Charles Kushner, following a post by the U.S. Embassy referring to the killing of a right-wing activist by “far-left extremists.”
The move came after a social media post linked the incident to rising “violent left-wing extremism.”
The activist, Quentin Diranck, died from a head injury sustained during clashes near the Sciences Po Lyon. Two individuals have been charged with murder, and a judicial investigation is underway.
