France and its partners are moving to organize an international conference to support the Lebanese army in an effort to contain escalation and reinforce the ceasefire, as Israeli strikes continue in southern and eastern Lebanon.
A spokesperson for the French Foreign Ministry said that political parties meeting in Paris on Thursday agreed to hold the conference in February to support the Lebanese Armed Forces.
The spokesperson added that the discussions focused on ways to achieve tangible progress in disarming non-governmental armed groups.
