The French National Assembly narrowly passed a motion condemning the 1968 migration agreement with Algeria, which grants Algerian nationals special privileges for residency and work permits.
The motion, proposed by the far-right National Rally party, gained support from the Republicans and “Horizons,” though it carries no legal force.
Party leader Marine Le Pen urged the government to “heed the people’s will,” while left-wing lawmakers called the move an “electoral maneuver” that could harm Franco-Algerian relations.
