From the platform of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for the building of a new world order that rejects “hegemony and power politics” and gives the Global South a central role.
Alongside Russian President Vladimir Putin, Xi issued sharp statements against Western policies, stressing the need to practice “true multilateralism” and counter a Cold War mentality.
In its final declaration, the SCO strongly condemned “acts that result in civilian casualties and humanitarian disasters” in the Gaza Strip, calling for a comprehensive and immediate ceasefire.
The organization also condemned the attacks carried out by the Israeli occupation in Iran, affirming its unified position on regional and international issues.
