The 20th G20 Leaders’ Summit opened on Saturday in Johannesburg, South Africa, under the theme “Solidarity, Equality, and Sustainability.”
The summit brings together leaders from the world’s largest economies, representing 85% of global GDP, 75% of international trade, and two-thirds of the world’s population. Attendees include Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, French President Emmanuel Macron, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
The first session will focus on trade as a driver of inclusive and sustainable growth, development financing, and debt relief, while the second session addresses disaster risk reduction, climate change mitigation, a just transition to clean energy, and strengthening food systems.
