Turkey’s Presidential Communications Director, Burhanettin Duran, announced on Tuesday that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz will visit Turkey on October 29–30, 2025, at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Duran stated on Turkey’s “In Social” platform that the visit will include comprehensive discussions on Turkish-German relations and the assessment of measures to strengthen bilateral cooperation across various sectors.

The talks are also expected to cover Turkey’s EU membership process and regional and international security challenges.

The German government confirmed that Merz will depart for Turkey on Wednesday evening to meet with President Erdoğan.
