Global Energy Markets React to Trump Remarks on Venezuelan Oil

Oil and gold prices dropped on Wednesday following remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump about Washington’s intention to purchase 30 to 50 million barrels of Venezuelan oil and the possibility of “annexing Greenland,” causing market jitters.

West Texas Intermediate fell 1% to $56.57 a barrel, while Brent slipped 0.6% to $60.33.

Gold declined 0.8% to $4,461 per ounce, as investors sought to secure profits following a record rally last month.
