Global Food Prices Hold Steady at Alarming Highs, FAO Warns

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) reported that global food prices continued to hover near their highest levels in two years, threatening food security for millions worldwide.

Despite the general price index stabilizing in August, the details reveal a complex reality; while grain and dairy prices saw a slight decline, meat, sugar, and vegetable oil prices jumped to offset this decrease.

This stability at high levels, which is still only 18.8% below the historical peak following the Ukrainian crisis, maintains economic pressure on households and importing countries alike.
