Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola renewed his public support for the Palestinian cause, saying that real solidarity goes beyond statements and requires concrete action and responsibility toward the suffering of the Palestinian people.
The Spanish coach made the remarks on Thursday while attending a charity event in Barcelona titled “Act x Palestine,” held at the Sant Jordi venue in Catalonia and attended by cultural, artistic and sporting figures to raise awareness and support humanitarian causes in Palestine.
Wearing a Palestinian keffiyeh, Guardiola delivered an emotional speech, saying: “When I see a child over the past two years on television or social media asking about his mother, who may be buried under the rubble without him knowing, I always ask myself: what is going through his mind?”
He added that the world had abandoned Palestinians, saying: “I always feel they are asking us: where are you? Come and help us… and so far, we have done nothing.”
Guardiola criticised decision-makers, saying the situation was the result of international silence and moral failure, adding that bombs were “not only meant to destroy, but to silence voices and push the world to ignore the tragedy.”
