Guinea Suspends Leading Opposition Parties Ahead of Constitutional Referendum

Guinea’s ruling military junta has suspended the activities of three major opposition parties, including that of former President Alpha Condé, for 90 days, just weeks before a scheduled constitutional referendum.

The decision also targets the Union of Democratic Forces, led by former Prime Minister Cellou Dalein Diallo, and the Party for Renewal and Progress, raising concerns about the country’s democratic transition.
