At least four people were killed and several others injured on Sunday when a gunman opened fire inside a Mormon church in Michigan, authorities said.

According to state police, the attacker first rammed his car into the church before firing with an assault rifle and setting the building on fire.

Grand Blanc Police Chief William Renie told reporters that the suspect was shot dead by officers in a parking lot, just eight minutes after the first emergency call was received.

U.S. President Donald Trump condemned the attack, describing it as part of an ongoing “epidemic of violence” across the country.
