The Houthi movement has vowed to carry out “effective and vital” strikes on targets inside Israel in retaliation for Tel Aviv’s airstrike on Yemen’s Hodeidah Port, marking a new escalation in the broader regional tensions tied to the war in Gaza.
Mahdi al-Mashat, head of the Houthis’ Supreme Political Council, stated that the response would be “calculated and aimed at maintaining advantage and control on the battlefield,” according to the group’s official SABA news agency on Tuesday evening.
In a direct warning, al-Mashat called on foreign embassies located near “legitimate targets” in Tel Aviv to shut down and evacuate, adding that the group’s Foreign Ministry in Sana’a is available for coordination to ensure the safety of diplomatic missions.
This development signals a potential expansion of the conflict as regional actors increasingly engage in the fallout from the ongoing war in Gaza.
